About Kaya

Kaya History in Plantus

Plantus' history with Kaya began with the idea of innovating an ingredient that had a socio-environmental history and at the same time quality in terms of efficiency and effectiveness. Kaya represents a moment of advancement and change for Plantus, as it was the plant used in the development of our first international line of cosmetics for the luxury market. Kaya was chosen because it has a direct relationship with indigenous and Brazilian communities and the "cabaça", which is a popular designation for dried fruits, are used in everyday life and have a lot of affective and emotional history in needy families. This dried fruit becomes a symbol of the cultural expression of the communities, since they work by hand and create artifacts to use at home and be a symbol passed on from generation to generation. Currently, Plantus has its own area with native forest full of Kaya. This area of native forest has an extension of approximately 16 hectares and there is a socio-environmental project to maintain the native culture and promote Agro Forestry System (SAF) style cultivation.
